Year one

2019

Ricquel Archer's story began with a deep commitment to young people. As the first in her family to attend college, she built her early career leading national initiatives for youth in foster care and directing local community centers. That same year, the center she led received national recognition, affirming her passion as more than a profession—it was her purpose. It was also in 2019 that her mentorship of Darius Ford, then a high school senior, sparked the vision for Create + Collaborate.

2020

In early 2020, Ricquel began to notice the gaps in support for students transitioning into adulthood, especially those aging out of traditional youth programs. She dedicated months to listening to student experiences and identifying barriers that first-generation students face. This season of discovery laid the groundwork for Create + Collaborate's mission. What started with one Amazon wishlist for Darius to furnish his first dorm quickly shaped into a movement of support, mentorship, and opportunity.
